Here at Mountain View Wind Power we are the official distributor of The Skystream® 3.7, which is a fully integrated, utility-connected wind generator designed specifically for homes and small businesses. In simple terms, it shows you’ve taken charge of your home’s energy needs. It’s a symbol of independence. Think of a Skystream 3.7 as any other household appliance. After we install it and connect it to your electric meter, you’re done. Nothing changes inside your house. It works in tandem with your electric utility to power your house. When the wind isn’t blowing, the utility supplies your electricity. But when it’s windy out, your Skystream provides clean, quiet electricity. When it generates more electricity than you need, your meter can actually spin backwards—which means you’re essentially selling electricity back to the utility. With a personal wind powered generator you can harness the wind and use it to make your own electricity. But is a residential wind turbine right for you? If your property meets the following criteria, chances are the answer is yes.
- Your property is larger than one-half acre and is unobstructed
- The average wind speed above your house is at least 10 MPH (best results at 12 MPH or more)
- Local zoning laws allows a structure that is at least 42' tall
- Your electric utility has an existing interconnection agreement (Mountain View Wind Power will help to determine this).
